Dr. Marco Paliotta Supports the American Cancer Society by Attending Oklahoma City Cattle Baron’s Ball

Dr. Marco Paliotta, M.D., has made a lifelong commitment to advancing the field of cardiac surgery. For more than ten years, the doctor has performed heart reconstructive surgeries on both adults and children. Throughout Dr. Paliotta’s life one constant ambition pushed the doctor to achieve medical greatness, and that was being of service to those in need. On August 19, 2011, Dr. Paliotta will attend the American Cancer Society’s Oklahoma City Cattle Baron’s Ball. This lifesaving ball benefiting the American Cancer Society offers a fun and festive way to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. To keep up with the theme of this event, the Cattle Baron’s Ball invites attendee’s to wear blue jeans and Western apparel. The ball features live and silent auctions which help find a cure for the disease. This uplifting and festive ball brought the fight against cancer directly to the Oklahoma community. The spirit and camaraderie of the event made fighting cancer and saving lives an inspiring experience.
Dr. Paliotta joined other business leaders from the Oklahoma area to celebrate the lifesaving work that happens on a daily basis at the American Cancer Society. The generous support of Oklahoma community leaders in the Cattle Baron’s Ball will allow those affected by cancer to see more birthdays. Additionally, participating in such an event helps find cures, and fight back against a disease that has already affected so many.
The charitable doctor has performed surgeries on some of the neediest children. Dr. Paliotta has operated pro bono on third world children in Peru working to correct their heart defects. In addition to donating his services to those in need, Dr. Paliotta also single handedly directed the pediatric heart surgery service at OU Children’s Hospital. Dr. Paliotta completely sacrificed his personal life to support the surgery service at the Oklahoma University Children’s Hospital. “Being able to successfully operate on neonates to toddlers to children was thrilling and rewarding for me beyond anything else” says Dr. Paliotta. “To be able to fix a congenital heart defect in the operating room and then manage the patient in Intensive Care Unit until he or she was healed is a significant source of satisfaction”.

Dr. Marco A. Paliotta, M.D, is a highly accomplished surgeon. He completed his cardiac surgery training at the Medical College of Georgia. After finishing his training, Dr. Paliotta accepted a job as an adult cardiac surgeon in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Operating in Portsmouth for four years allowed the doctor to acquire a vast amount of experience in performing coronary bypass, valve operation, and lung surgery procedures. His talents were recognized when he received the title Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma. In this role, Dr. Paliotta managed to effectively serve the entire state of Oklahoma for congenital heart problems in children. Dr. Paliotta is also affiliated with a number of prominent medical membership organizations, including the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (member), the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (member), and many more. As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Paliotta helped spread his expertise on congenital malformations by lecturing medical students.
