BIR: Tax on poll funds
MANILA, Philippines — Unspent campaign contributions of candidates running for elective posts are now subject to income tax. The new policy is contained in Revenue Regulation No. 7-2011 signed by Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima upon the recommendation of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto Henares.
