All Volunteer Non-Profit Group Saves Over 1,100 Dogs; Diane Dwyer Contributes to Fundraising Effort

Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) September 13, 2006

German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California announces that it has saved over 1,100 dogs due to the efforts of its all volunteer team. Without a facility or employees, the non-profit group relies on volunteers for all of its daily operations. The group rescues dogs prior to euthanesia in local animal shelters and provides food, shelter and medical care. A significant part of the group’s financial resources are derived from its annual fundraiser. The next fundraiser is scheduled for October 16, 2006.

Ms. Diane Dwyer, of NBC 11 News, has played a critical role in the group’s fundraising efforts and has been the auctioneer at the annual fundraiser for the last three years. According to Mike Murray, President, “We are extremely appreciative of Diane’s ongoing support for our non-profit group and we are thrilled that she will once again conduct our live auction at the fundraiser.”

The fundraiser will consist of a golf tournament, auction and dinner at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville on October 16. The tournament will feature something for everyone to enjoy. Following the golf tournament, golfers and dinner guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner at the prominent Blackhawk Country Club.

During the cocktail hour, guests will have the opportunity to meet canine teams (handlers and their dogs) from local law enforcement departments, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Travis Air Force Base. Guests may also participate in silent and live auctions, which will include items such as travel, jewelry and sports memorabilia.

The golf package, including lunch and dinner, is $ 250/person or $ 900/foursome. Non-golfers may purchase dinner tickets, which includes all of the auction excitement for $ 70/person.

About Us:

German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer team dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherd Dogs by working cooperatively with animal shelters and other rescue groups towards the goals of saving lives, reducing pet overpopulation and educating the public about responsible pet ownership. Our rescue volunteers obtain dogs from animal shelters, often when they are within 24 hours of losing their lives. We care for the dogs in foster homes and ensure they receive veterinary care. We then adopt the dogs to permanent, loving and responsible homes. We also maintain a telephone hotline and provide the public with free educational materials, referrals and guidance to promote responsible pet ownership. In addition, German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California has had success with placing dogs in working environments such as Search and Rescue, the Washington D.C. Capital City Police and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Since the group’s inception in early 2002, over 1,100 dogs have been saved.
