Question by kILOWAN: medical assistance plz k thx?
I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands as well as pinched nerves in both my elbows, YA it’s been a **** year. umm basically i’m 19 years old and every god dam doctor i see says to just wait it out, i’ve been to 2 neurologists, 1 orthopedic surgeon and like 3 physicians…at what point do you STOP WAITING IT OUT?! god, they think just because i’m 19 it’s all going to work out, NO it’s getting worse. what do i do? because i know that nerve compression IS A BAD THING AND CAN BE PERMANENT. and i have no insurance and no help from parents, which has made this time very fun for me. I’m just scared of getting further into debt and getting no ******* help, “oh you’ll be fine in 2 months”. is there a specific doctor i should see to GET SURGERY, i don’t see any other. options????????????????!?!?!? I was thinking a neurosurgeon? but i really don’t know. oH and i also had an emg done by some stuuuuuuuupid *** neurologist who just told me to wait it out and i’ll be fine. he said i was border line carpal tunnel. LOL border line? if i tap on either wrist it feels like electricity going through every finger excet my pinky.. it’s actually kinda cool. omg help me

How are you going to pay for neurosurgery if you have no insurance and your parents won’t help?
In any case, surgery is usually not performed until it has been proven over time that the other nonsurgical options have not worked. So you have to give it time in any case before you will find any doctor to operate on you.
according to webmd:
Symptoms have not improved after a long period of nonsurgical treatment. Generally, surgery is not considered until after 3 to 12 months of non-surgical treatment. But this assumes that you are having ongoing symptoms but no sign of nerve damage. Nerve damage would make surgery more urgent.
You can see more about the surgical options for carpal tunnel syndrome at the web md site: http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/carpal-tunnel/carpal-tunnel-syndrome-surgery
