You hit the nail on the head.....You must arrange to pay back bad debt. The worst thing you could do is leave it as it would only make matters worse. If you try to arrange a payment plain you can afford it will go along way in repairing you bad credit.

What is the highest interest rate that you are paying?
First off almost all of those credit repair ompanies are big time rip offs. They charge for their "service" and often they achieve nothing. The credit companies WILL NOT LOWER r their rates in this case UNLESS you are behind in your payments and there is a good chance you will default. The idea here is that they will work with you to keep you making payments and the more common method is that they lower your minimum payment rather lower your rate. Based on what you've said, there is no incentive for them to lower your rate. The places that they sometimes suceed is on home loans where they misrepresent a balloon payment or higher interest rates after x years of the loan.
A method that does work for people that still have a good credit rating (which still may be possible in your case) is that they get a credit card offer with a bargain rate (make sure it isnt one of those teaser rates for 6 months or so). They then call the credit card company with the highest rate and tell them that you like working with them but this other company is offering a better rate of xx% and if wanted them to have a chance to match it before you move the amount. Whatever their decision is, you win.

In the meantime, stop using your credit card. The credit card is not your friend.

Credit card companies have gotten brutal in recent years...they will only help you (like lowering interest) if they feel that it's in their best interest to do so....This means that if you are more than two months behind on your payment, then they "might" have special programs to help you, such as reducing their interest rates. They have zero incentive to offer any help to people who are current on their accounts .

Another option is to enter into a Debt Management Plan through CCCS. Contact your local Red Cross for a referral to the local Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) in your area. They can negotiate much lower payments and interest rates. They DO NOT negotiate settlements.

They will require you to stop using all credit and to cut up your cards. Your credit report will be updated to "enrolled in debt management." This does not damage your credit, but it may make it impossible to obtain new credit while you are enrolled in their program....so don't use this service if you anticipate applying for a new apartment, car loan or mortgage anytime soon, as you would probably be denied while you're enrolled in the CCCS debt management program.... Otherwise, it can be a very good way to deal with your debt. Be sure you fully understand this program before signing up.

STAY AWAY from any debt settlement firm...these firms deliberately let your accounts default to attempt settlements....You could end up being sued.

Credit card companies will not reopen a closed account; they will open new accounts. The only thing you can do is start the application process.

BS"D
For a business loan, you will need a business plan and people to sign surety for you.
So first thing is to prepare the business plan. That will show the value of the business, stocks and properties that constitute equity, projected sales etc and projected income, illustrating how the loan will be paid off.
I am not such an expert, but the banks want to loan, so if it looks good they will do it.
Find someone who can do the plan for you who knows what they are doing

A) make sure you have a trustworthy attorney
B) go to work.
C) Send your attorney to court
D) Double check that you still have a trustworthy attorney.

You can't be two places at once and can't lose the job. Also don't want to raise red flags about being the guy going bankrupt and getting sued. Find a good attorney and place your bets on them.

Your attorney's office already gave you the answer and it was the same answer that the attorneys I used to work for would have given.

No, the cannot start garnishing your wages on the same day they get a judgment. They would need to order you to produce your financial info first, etc.

The only "answer" worth producing is if you believe that the entity suing you is wrong and you don't actually owe the debt. Anything else (I can't afford it, I'm doing the best I can, I'm going to file bankruptcy in a couple of weeks, I think the creditor is a scoundrel and hasn't been fair to me, etc., etc., etc.) will not prevent the creditor from getting the same judgment against you as they'd get if you hadn't filed an answer. So (your attorney is right...) usually its not worth it to miss work or go through the trouble of filing an answer UNLESS you don't actually owe the debt -- i.e., they have the wrong person, you were a victim of ID theft (with evidence from police investigation) etc., etc..
